Gerald E. Burch received his Bachelors of Arts Degree from Albany State College in 1980 under the tutelage of two renowned artist / instructors; Arthur Berry and Ohm Cedelberg. Over the past 28 years, his art has appeared in numerous galleries, juried exhibitions, private shows and has graced the walls of many businesses and corporate organizations.
While somewhat eclectic, his works are definitely unique, displaying in addition to a definite technical mastery of his craft, a child like imagination that adds an exciting mix of colors and dynamic playing forms. With the sometimes swift precision of a Delacroix and at other times the reckless abandonment of Dadaism, it might appear at first glance that there is no cohesion or direction in relation to style or technique. But, therein lies the virtuosity of this “Painter of Life”.
In his works, we get a glimpse in two and three-dimensional forms, of a visual representation of a mind processing thoughts. You will see that the urges for stylistic obedience and social correctness have not guided this artist; but rather, the overwhelming desire to share as many things as possible in as many ways as the different mediums will allow.
