A Word From Ola

Overcoming Obstacles

“As you know from school, it’s when you have not prepared for the test that you have the fear of failing. And if you have prepared, even if you fail, you’ve done your best” ~Alice Walker

Sometimes no matter how hard you try, it seems like something is standing in the way of success. You can prepare and put as much as you can in place but unexpected obstacles manage to slow down the process in ways that make every goal seem harder to reach. Overcoming Obstacles is our theme for this month. June is a month of transitions. The school year ends, the summer begins and, for many, it begins a time of reflection or reorganization before the busy fall and winter seasons.

Look out for articles and advice this month about the many ways that Sister CEOs have worked to succeed in the face of myriad challenges and stepped around the madness when so much seemed in the way.

We want to hear your stories of endings and beginnings. Tell us about the obstacles you have faced and the ways that you worked to grow your business and maintain your focus.

We also need inspiration—videos, artwork, photos and testimonies because obstacles have solutions. Don't give up! The best way to find those solutions is to help each other and keep our spirits high!

Working from home can make you less active because you can be so isolated. Take some time to walk around lunch time, or stretch. You may even want to work out before you get your day started.

Distractions, Distractions. Ladies you have to firm up on the people who keep interrupting you. Close your office door. Don't answer personal phone calls.

Don't give in!

Tamara,

That is the recipe for success. Oops, I just spotted my own error in the last message.

Delete Comment Hi Ola,

I implemented two new things this year to help me in my business. Hired a business coach to help me take my business to the next level and a marketing consultant to assist me with marketing & communication efforts ...articles, newsletters, teleconferences, email blast, etc. This allows me to focus on my business, not in my business. I now have more time to spend with clients and do what I am best at...working the numbers not writing!
I'm sure there is a typo in this message...LOL! I hate proof reading also!

Get a Coach

Ladies it is nothing wrong with admitting that you need help. I is not a bad idea to find some one who can help you to stay focused, and give you a jolt. It is challenging trying to do it all yourself.

Let's not forget if you have other responsibilities. My mother had a second stroke two years ago and would have to live in a nursing home if I didn't work from home. It also allows me to work at MY peak energy times: 5:30am-noon. I get 80% of my work done on a normal day during these hours.

Hey there Ola,
Yes I do agree that they are many benefits when working from home. One of my favorites is working in my pajamas ; ) I want other business women that are deciding to take their business to the home front to know that it takes great discipline, a clean and professional work area preferably a separate room, and passion to make this work. I learn from each obstacle and mistake and it is important to stand by your policies, pricing, and always be respectful and professional, no matter the situation.
I wish you all much success!

Have a fashion fabulous day,

Ladies,

I can't tell you how much I enjoy working from home especially when it is really cold outside. I think of all of those people out in the cold waiting for the bus or having to drive in the snow.

Try to make your home-business work so you can continue to reap the benefits of not having to juggle getting your kids off to school and having to rush home to get them ready for the next day. There are so many benefits.

We are very fortunate.
