About Me:
DIANE A. SEARS is the Editor/Author of a book on Fatherhood and Men’s Issues – IN SEARCH OF FATHERHOOD® -- TRANSCENDING BOUNDARIES; the Managing Editor of a quarterly international male parenting journal which was launched in October 1999—IN SEARCH OF FATHERHOOD® --- and is exclusively published and distributed by BSI International, inc. (www.bsi-international.com) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and the creator and moderator of IN SEARCH OF FATHERHOOD®’s blog at http://globalfatherhooddialogue. blogspot.com – all of which facilitates a “Global Dialogue on Fatherhood” for Men who are Fathers from all Walks of Life throughout our global village. The concept for IN SEARCH OF FATHERHOOD® was created by Sears’ mentor, the late L.T. Henry, a classically trained jazz musician who performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra and was a former drummer for internationally acclaimed songstress and film and television actress Ms. Della Reese; author; photojournalist; and sales and success motivation trainer who died in March 1999 without having an opportunity to develop his vision of an interactive Fatherhood Forum. Shortly after Mr. Henry’s death, Sears began the process of resurrecting her late mentor’s vision through the launching of the quarterly international male parenting journal—IN SEARCH OF FATHERHOOD®, the publishing of a book – IN SEARCH OF FATHERHOOD®--TRANSCENDING BOUNDARIES, and the creation of a Fatherhood blog IN SEARCH OF FATHERHOOD® at http://globalfatherhooddialogue.blogspot.com.

SEARS is a member of the University Council for Akamai University’s Fatherhood and Men’s Studies Program (www.akamaiuniversity.us) which is located in Hilo, Hawaii. She advises the President of Akamai University on Fatherhood issues and assists him in the enhancement of the institution’s Fatherhood and Men’ Studies curriculum and in forming strategic alliances with national and international Fatherhood organizations. She is also a member of the Philadelphia Fatherhood Practitioners Network.

SEARS has interviewed more than 100 Men who are Fathers throughout our global village concerning issues directly and indirectly related to Fatherhood and has developed working relationships with male parenting organizations in Australia, Canada, Europe and the United States. She has authored and published reviews for numerous books about Fatherhood and men’s rights issues including Father and Child Reunion: How To Bring The Dads We Need to the Children We Love, by Warren Farrell, Ph.D.; Swallowed By A Snake: The Gift Of The Masculine Side Of Healing by Thomas R. Golden, LCSW; The Ultimate Survival Guide for the Single Father by Thomas Hoerner; Nothing’s Wrong: A Man’s Guide To Managing His Feelings by David Kundtz; Hey Daddy, Read This by Donald Roberts, an award-winning journalist and anchorman for Virginia’s NBC-affiliate television station WAVY-TV; We Fish: The Journey To Fatherhood by University of Pittsburgh Vice Provost Jack L. Daniel, Ph.D. and his son Omari C. Daniel, Ph.D.; Being The Strong Man A Woman Wants: Timeless Wisdom On Being A Man by Elliott Katz; The Spirit of Fatherhood: Embracing Our Role As Fathers And Reclaiming Our Children by S. Rudov; Fatherhood by William H. Cosby, Jr., Ed.D.; and Save The Males: Common Sense On Gender And Family Issues . . . It’s About Time by Richard F. Doyle.

A member of the Eastern Communication Association (www.ecasite.org) and Toastmasters International , in April 2006, Sears co-moderated the “New Media, Social Entrepreneurship and the Single Father Movement” Panel at the Eastern Communication Association’s 97th National Conference which ws held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and presented a paper entitled, “Resurrecting A Vision -- -- Transforming Fatherhood: The New Media And the Fatherhood Movement”. SEARS has co-produced Fatherhood forums and has been the subject of electronic and print media interviews concerning Fatherhood issues.

IN SEARCH OF FATHERHOOD(R) -- WINTER 2009

THE CHALLENGE

WHEN YOU’RE IN DOUBT
OR FACING ADVERSITY,
WHOM SHALL YOU
TURN TO?

WHEN YOU’RE FEELING DISTRESSED,
OR UPSET AT THE SOMEONE,
WHOM SHALL YOU
LOVE THE MOST?

WHEN YOU’RE FACED WITH DISAPPOINTMENTS,
OR A BREAKUP,
WHOM SHALL YOU
CONTINUE TO CARE FOR?

AND WHEN YOU’RE ALONE,
AND FEELING DEPRESSED,
THE PERSON WHOM SHALL NEVER
LEAVE YOUR SIDE,
IS THE PERSON WHO LOVES YOU THE BEST
YOU!

Thank you for the continued prayers you can never have too many of those. Still moving a little slow but trying to get back on track until the Dr's make some decisions. Many blessings to you.

A Comments from one of our readers:
Thank you for allowing a platform of expression for the Home Girl, CEO.
You and your vision are both absolutely FABULOUS!
As far As my home based business, I haven't completely taking the plunge but, I'm 90% there!

Here's my thing:
I can no longer fall victim to a work place that has not set up ample respect for the single mom! My last job wanted me to work from 4pm-1am. In my opinion, they were telling me to forget about my family, and forget about having a life and let someone else raise your child!
To me, that's truly unacceptable as well as, on the other hand, motivating.
I can't continue to do the same thing and get the same results. I think they call that "insanity", right!
For me, that was a serious wake up call. So now, I'm working through this thing called "fear" and it's been a douzie! However, I plan to succeed at all cost.
I have too! I'm not giving myself any other option and you shouldn't either.
Always remember that we come from a background of strong survivors that would do anything for the price of freedom, even risk loosing their lives.
So , on that note, lets expect to succeed. Let's plan, organize, and execute! Let's be that person that we are waiting to show up! Let's do the do! Let's make a committment to hold each other accountable for success. I'll take the stand first.
