It is so easy for us to forget that we are not just the super efficient employee; dynamic entrepreneur; all rounder mother; super wife, friend and Ms Fix It to the whole wide world.
It’s time to relax and let go!
It’s OK to say we have had enough…
I lived in my hometown of Orlando, FL until 2000 when I relocated to southern NJ to marry my best friend. Unfortunately, he and I weren't too "friendly" after a while, so I left him in Philadelphia to pursue my career in Greensburg, PA. What a difference a change makes in your life! I am living my dream of helping women become business owners, especially women of color through my consulting business. The cherry on my sundae of life is that I am also a university professor that teaches business and entrepreneurship courses. In my role, I also work as a business counselor at a women's business center.
On my personal side, I am just as passionate about my relationship with Christ. I'm a blend of ethnic & esoteric interests. I'm moved by music, food, & people. I love life, laughter, & my wonderful daughter, Elle, a blessing since birth. We get 1 chance: Pray. Live. Give. Dare. Forgive. Love. Dream. Love Again. Laugh.

As women, we have so many roles where we provide support for others --- mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, friend, owner, employee --- that it is easy to forget if we don't take care of ourselves, nothing else matters. The other challenge (a mystery really) is that we tend to keep health related problems to ourselves. That's until we think we are going to inconvenience others in our lives. Thank you for allowing a platform of expression for the Home Girl, CEO.
You and your vision are both absolutely FABULOUS!
As far As my home based business, I haven't completely taking the plunge but, I'm 90% there!
Here's my thing:
I can no longer fall victim to a work place that has not set up ample respect for the single mom! My last job wanted me to work from 4pm-1am. In my opinion, they were telling me to forget about my family, and forget about having a life and let someone else raise your child!
To me, that's truly unacceptable as well as, on the other hand, motivating.
I can't continue to do the same thing and get the same results. I think they call that "insanity", right!
For me, that was a serious wake up call. So now, I'm working through this thing called "fear" and it's been a douzie! However, I plan to succeed at all cost.
I have too! I'm not giving myself any other option and you shouldn't either.
Always remember that we come from a background of strong survivors that would do anything for the price of freedom, even risk loosing their lives.
So , on that note, lets expect to succeed. Let's plan, organize, and execute! Let's be that person that we are waiting to show up! Let's do the do! Let's make a committment to hold each other accountable for success. I'll take the stand first.
