I just read the book CHOICEZ and WOW! I applaud Aginah for her courage and determination. The book manages to engage and captivate you from the very beginning. It is a powerful story of a women's struggle that we all can relate to. As I read through the paragraphs I was right there with her and found a "connection" with Aginah's experiences as a mother, entrepreneur, and women growing up fast. CHOICEZ is indeed a story for all Women. It is a great story with a powerful message.
Thanks for sharing your story Aginah

Girl your book is off the chain!

“Choicez is truly a “coming of age” story of both mother and daughter. Aginah Carter-Shabazz and her daughter, Nas, reveal the personal side of their lives that played out in the public eye. They are now drawing upon the same faith and courage it took to overcome their challenges to tell their story so others can also learn and grow.”
You are so brave to have documented your story! Congratulations! I have enjoyed reading the book. There are many lessons in it. Just like you have been asked to speak to a group of senior citizens, I can see you on a speaking tour addressing groups of youth. Keep up the good work!

Where do I begin....I was in attendance at the book signing and the screening of "Justice For Her" on Mother's Day. I was moved to tears after watching the documentary. I purchased Choicez and I must say, it's not everyday that I get a book that I can't put down. I was finished the
book within 12 hours. Sis Aginah, after watching the documentary and reading your book...I am speechless yet I have learned so much. Currently I'm a single mother of 3 working two jobs and trying to put myself through school. I could relate to so much in the film and in the book. The choices as a mother/woman in general we are forced to make, not realizing that these choices affect not only ourselves but our families. Thank you so much for the courage to right about your personal life and the experiences good or bad. It takes a great woman to dig deep and share. I grew up hearing great things about you.
You are a phenomenal woman. I have been telling everyone I
know about the book and the film. It is a must see and a
must read.
Thank You

Once I started her book, I could not put it down. I finished it feeling that I had read a soulful prayer that had seeped into my soul, filling me up with renewed hopes and heartfelt determinations.
Aginah picked up “The Pen”, and shared her life story; the history of her family, her religion and the oppressive wounds afflicted upon her family. Filled with love in her heart and mind, the strength of prayer, friends and family, along with her determined will, Aginah leaped over many hurdles. My guts were gnawed reading her honesty, and as the story unfolded of her trials, I rejoiced knowing that she was indeed a conqueror to emulate. This lone woman united friends and family in her struggle to fight the powers of dishonesty and deceit of a judicial system to save her daughter, and the financial system to become an entrepreneur. Her story is a leadership example that faith mingled with action, is indeed awesome. The powerful reinforcing axiom I received from Aginah’s book is: “G-d love will take care of you and your enemies peacefully”. The bigger picture, to me, of her story is unfolding in the world. Today, the global world has eyes on the deceit and dishonesty in America’s financial, judicial and political system. G-d willing a change towards honesty and transparency will prevail over deceptive and dishonest practices and benefit all mankind.
I ended her book and began to listen to Keyshia Cole sing, “Just Like You”. Enjoy the book.

I've attempted to reach you via phone with no success. First let me congratulate you on your book. I couldn't put it down. I read it in one day. Even, though I have known you for about 38 years, there was so much you revealed about yourself that I never knew. What a story.
You made a comment in your ad that every woman should read it, but I think there's a thing or two that LOTS of men could learn too. BRAVO! I am so very proud of you and your accomplishments. I want my book signed too. It will be one of my "Keepers"!

I cannot stop reading your book - your life story - unbelievable and I thought I knew you. It captivates your mind as you're pulled into your story with an interest and curiosity to see what happens next. The writing flows in a way that you become one with the words on the pages...You know I'm a reader of many different types of books and its the writing of the author that delivers or fails in telling the story. Well, you've out done yourself! I'm starting the last 3 chapters --- just finished your midlife crisis--your marriage to Troy --- Oh My G_d! I had to put the book down because I'm not getting anything done!

Aginah, my grand daughter is trying to take my book. I'll be ordering her one soon.
Wow!
No matter what was circumstance you found yourself in, you overcame it and create something better as a result of it. You are blessed to be standing strong and you should be so proud that you made it through.

Thank you for allowing a platform of expression for the Home Girl, CEO.
You and your vision are both absolutely FABULOUS!
As far As my home based business, I haven't completely taking the plunge but, I'm 90% there!
Here's my thing:
I can no longer fall victim to a work place that has not set up ample respect for the single mom! My last job wanted me to work from 4pm-1am. In my opinion, they were telling me to forget about my family, and forget about having a life and let someone else raise your child!
To me, that's truly unacceptable as well as, on the other hand, motivating.
I can't continue to do the same thing and get the same results. I think they call that "insanity", right!
For me, that was a serious wake up call. So now, I'm working through this thing called "fear" and it's been a douzie! However, I plan to succeed at all cost.
I have too! I'm not giving myself any other option and you shouldn't either.
Always remember that we come from a background of strong survivors that would do anything for the price of freedom, even risk loosing their lives.
So , on that note, lets expect to succeed. Let's plan, organize, and execute! Let's be that person that we are waiting to show up! Let's do the do! Let's make a committment to hold each other accountable for success. I'll take the stand first.
